Christiane Barz graduated from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology before she worked  for two years as a postdoctoral researcher at Chicago Booth School of Business, Illinois.  She continued her work on approximate dynamic programming as an assistant professor (tenure track) at the UCLA Anderson School of Management, California. After a brief time as a professor of operations management at Technische Universität Berlin in 2015, she then joined the University of Zurich in 2016.
