Prof. Dr. Andreas Georg Scherer named Doctor honoris causa of the University of Hamburg
Prof. Dr. Andreas Georg Scherer, Professor of Business Administration and Theories of the Firm at the University of Zurich, has been awarded an honorary doctorate from the Faculty of Business, Economics and Social Sciences of the University of Hamburg in recognition of his career and contributions to research in the fields of business and social sciences, in particular to Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainability. The award ceremony took place on Thursday, December 3rd, 2020 in the presence of Prof. Dr. Jetta Frost, Vice-president of the University of Hamburg, Prof. Dr. Cord Jakobeit, Dean of the Faculty of Business, Economics and Social Sciences of the University of Hamburg, as well as Prof. Dr. Dirk Ulrich Gilbert and Prof. Dr. Kerstin Lopatta from the same faculty who delivered laudatory speeches and Prof. Dr. Timo Busch who moderated the ceremony. About one hundred attendees followed the virtual ceremony that was held in a synchronous online format due to the Covid-19 situation.

Professor Edward P. Lazear has passed away
It is with great sadness that we have to announce the passing away of Professor Edward P. Lazear. He was honorary doctor of the Faculty of Business, Economics and Informatics, member of the Advisory Board of the Institute for Business Administration, a regular lecturer in the Institute's doctoral programme, and a dear colleague and friend of many in the Faculty.
Ed Lazear was a professor of economics at Stanford Graduate School of Business and the Stanford Institute for Economic Policy Research, and a senior fellow at the Hoover Institution. Ed Lazear was the founder of the field Personnel Economics, and inspired generations of young scientists with his enthusiasm. He won practically any prize in his field. Just recently a new prize in his name was established by the Society of Labor Economists, the Annual Edward P. Lazear Prize – which recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to the field of labor economics, devoted a portion of their careers for the benefit of civil society and actively helped shape public policy.
Ed Lazear passed away on November 23, 2020 after short severe illness. Our thoughts are with his family.

SNF Projektgenehmigungen
Das Projekt "Narcissistic, Machiavellian, and Psychopathic Brands: Measurement, Outcomes, and Contingency Factors" von Prof. Andrea Giuffredi-Kähr und das Projekt "ShopHero - Digital Receipt Based Sustainability and Food Waste Monitoring and Interventions" von Prof. Martin Natter wurden in der aktuellen SNF Projektausschreibung genehmigt. Beide Professoren sind in der Marketinggruppe unseres Departments. Die Finanzierungsdauer beträgt 4 Jahre. Ganz herzliche Gratulation!

Lehrpreisverleihung 19/20
Die Ergebnisse des diesjährigen Goldenen Schwamms sind da, dieses mal beinhaltet alle Dozierenden der Assessmentstufe. Allen voran liegt Prof. Christiane Barz mit ihrer Vorlesung zu Mathematik I & II. Den zweiten Platz teilen sich die Professoren Egon Franck und Ulf Zölitz. Wir gratulieren Prof. Barz und Prof. Franck ganz herzlich zu diesem hervorragenden Ergebnis!

Dr. Florian Überbacher, Postdoktorand und Oberassistent am IBW, hat einen Ruf als Associate Professor of Management (with tenure) am Department for Sustainable Management of Economy, Human Resources, Information Systems and Diversity der Montpellier Business School erhalten und angenommen. Stellenantritt ist auf den 1. Februar 2021. Die Montpellier Business School ist triple accredited (AACSB, EQUIS, AMBA).

Jamie Gloor - SNF PRIMA Grant
Jamie Gloor, Post-Doc (Betriebswirtschaftlehre), erhält für ihr Projekt «Playing the Game Relieves 'More of the Same'? Leadership Diversity through Sport» einen PRIMA Grant vom Schweizerischen Nationalfond zur Förderung der wissenschaftlichen Forschung (SNF) in der Höhe von 1,173,853CHF Franken (2021-2025). (22.8.20)

Ehrendoktorwürde für Frau Professorin Uschi Backes-Gellner
Die Wirtschafts- und Sozialwissenschaftliche Fakultät der Universität Tübingen hat beschlossen, Frau Professorin Uschi Backes-Gellner aufgrund herausragender Leistungen den Grad und die Würde eines Doktors der Wirtschaftswissenschaften ehrenhalber zu verleihen.
Die Universität Tübingen ist eine von 10 Exzellenzuniversitäten in Deutschland und kann in den Wirtschaftswissenschaften auf eine lange und erfolgreiche Tradition zurückblicken.

Jahrespreis für Robin Schnider beim UZH Dies Academicus 2020
Auf Antrag der Wirtschaftswissenschaftlichen Fakultät hat die Universität Zürich einen Jahrespreis an Robin Schnider für seine Dissertation «Macro-, Meso-, and Micro-Level Perspectives on Corporate Social Responsibility and Pro-Social Behavior» verliehen.
Robin Schnider untersuchte die soziale Verantwortung von Unternehmen und wie diese von öffentlichen Dialogen abhängt. Mithilfe innovativer Experimente konnte dabei die unbewusste Wirkung sozialer Medien auf die Wahrnehmung sozialer Akzeptanz nachgewiesen werden. Seine Forschung liefert wichtige Erkenntnisse für das digitale Zeitalter und die Bewältigung globaler Probleme.

José Parra-Moyano ist Finalist fuer den UZH Lehrpreis 2020
Wir freuen uns sehr, dass Dr. José Parra-Moyano, Dozent am Institut für Betriebswirtschaftslehre, in die Endrunde des Nominationsverfahrens für den UZH Lehrpreis 2020 gekommen ist. Das diesjährige Thema des Lehrpreises lautete «Im Lernprozess begleitet: Welche Dozentin/welcher Dozent begleitet den Lernprozess bis hin zum Leistungsnachweis am besten?». Das Nominationsverfahren wurde im Auftrag der Universitätsleitung vom Prorektorat Lehre und Studium organisiert. Die Nomination erfolgte aufgrund einer Internet-Umfrage unter den Studierenden und einer Einschätzung durch ein Auswahlgremium (vgl. www.uzh.ch/Iehrpreis).

Dr. Jamie L. Gloor Wins Best Paper Award at AOM 2020
Dr. Jamie Gloor's paper, "Help When Dads need Somebody? Follower Reactions to Leader Work-Family Conflict" (coauthored with Susanne Braun, Durham University) was just awarded with the best paper distinction in the Organizational Behavior Division at the Academy of Management; it will be published in the best paper proceedings. Jenny Hoobler (University of Pretoria) and Claudia Peus (Technical University of Munich) also coauthored the paper, but were not listed on the AOM submission, due to the rule of three. Congratulations!

Dr. Jamie L. Gloor accepts a tenured position as a senior lecturer at Exeter University Business School
As of April 1, Dr. Jamie L. Gloor, will be appointed as a Senior Lecturer (tenured, equivalent to Associate Professor) in the Business School at the University of Exeter in Exeter, England. At Exeter, Dr. Gloor will continue her award-winning research and teaching on leadership, diversity, and the future of work. This appointment will begin part-time to facilitate Dr. Gloor's finishing her current post-doctoral position with Assistant Professor, Dr. Agnes Baeker, at the University of Zurich, funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation and the Lehrkredit for teaching innovation. Dr. Gloor is also a University of Zurich alumna, having started her PhD under the supervision of our former Professor, Dr. Bruno Staffelbach (now President of the University of Lucerne) in 2013, finishing in 2016 (summa cum laude). Dr. Gloor has research experience across 4 continents, including Yale University, the Technical University of Munich, the National University of Singapore, and The University of Queensland. Prof. Backes-Gellner Mitglied im neu etablierten "Rat der Arbeitswelt" in Deutschland
Am 21. Januar wurde vom deutschen Arbeitsminister der 'Rat der Arbeitswelt' in Deutschland eingerichtet. Frau Prof. Backes-Gellner ist eines von elf ausgewählten Mitgliedern. Dieses Expertengremium aus Wissenschaft und Praxis soll den Wandel der Arbeitswelt und damit einhergehende Herausforderungen analysieren, Handlungsempfehlungen geben und die Erkenntnisse, sowohl für die Politik wie auch für die betriebliche Praxis, nutzbar machen. Wir gratulieren Frau Prof. Backes-Gellner ganz herzlich!
