Prof. Dr. Richard Büchner wirkte von 1929 bis 1969 als Ordinarius für Nationalökonomie an der Universität Zürich. Nach seinem Tod 1984 wurde auf seinen Wunsch hin und mit seinem Nachlass die Richard-Büchner-Stiftung zur Förderung der wirtschafts- und sozialwissenschaftlichen Forschung ins Leben gerufen, die bis zum Jahr 2018 spannende Projekte fördern durfte. In 2018 wurde die Stiftung liquidiert.
