Sofie Cairo studied economics at the University of Copenhagen focusing on behavioral and experimental economics. She graduated in 2021 with a dissertation on social benefit policies and labor market performance of jobseekers based on field experiments conducted with the Danish Ministry of Employment.
Sofie joined the Chair for Entrepreneurship as a postdoctoral researcher on September 1, 2024. Previously, she held postdoctoral research fellowships at Copenhagen Business School and Harvard Business School. Her current research agenda focuses on gender and parenthood gaps in science and innovation. She studies scientists’ scientific output and impact, their promotions, earnings, and access to funding, and relying on applied microeconometrics and behavioral and experimental methods, and combining administrative records, bibliometrics, survey, and experimental datasets.
Sofie Cairo has published in top-field journals in economics, won a number of fellowship grants, and is currently conducting field experiments with private science funders and companies in Denmark.
