Seminar "Applied sports research"

Dr. Paolo Bizzozero, Dr. Philippe Meier

Course Overview

In this seminar, students will write and present their own short quantitative sports research paper. After the kick-off meeting, students will develop a research idea and will write a research proposal, which they will discuss with the lecturers.

Learning Outcome

To get familiar with the key steps of producing a quantitative research paper in sports economics, i.e., defining a research question, documenting the test hypothesis, assessing the adequate quantitative methods, identifying and preparing a small dataset, carrying out first analyses, documenting results and discuss potential enhancements. Finally, to learn how to write a research bibliography and delivering a short oral presentation. The learned skills can be leveraged for writing a master thesis, not only in sports economics.

Target Group

Students who are interested in the field of sports economics and who intend to write their master thesis at the Chair of Strategic Management and Business Policy.

The seminar will be held in English.
