What makes activities strategic: Toward a new framework for Strategy as Practice research
In this paper we discuss what characterizes an activity as strategic and thus as falling into the domain of strategy research. We argue that the existing characterization of strategic activities in terms of their consequences is too narrow – unnecessarily stifling the potential of strategy research. Instead, we propose four different views on strategic activities, which are each connected with different research questions and different onto-epistemological assumptions. Together, these four views offer a new framework of studying the practice of strategy.
