PhD position in Economics of Education
The Swiss Federal University for Vocational Education and Training (EHB) and the University of Zurich (UZH) are seeking a highly motivated PhD student in economics of education to start in summer 2025. This position is fully funded by EHB, Bern, Switzerland, and offers the opportunity to work closely with Prof. Jürg Schweri (EHB) and Prof. Anne Brenøe (UZH).
The successful candidate will be involved in a field experiment on occupational choice in Switzerland, contributing to cutting-edge research at the intersection of education and labor markets. Given the nature of the project, proficiency in German is required.

Your Profile
The candidate must have (or be on track to complete) a Master’s degree in Economics or a related quantitative field with excellent academic performance. Strong training in microeconomics, econometrics, and statistics is required.
We are looking for a candidate who:
• Has a strong motivation for scientific research in applied microeconomics, particularly in the
economics of education.
• Possesses good organizational skills.
• Has excellent oral and written communication skills in English and German.
• Has hands-on experience with statistical software such as Stata, R, or Python (formal post-
undergraduate work experience is not required).
• Is a reliable team player who also enjoys working independently and solving problems.
• Has a motivation for policy-oriented work in Swiss Vocational Education and Training.
• Is willing to work hard, be self-motivated, and continuously learn.
