Corporate Entrepreneurship

1. Topics

Corporate entrepreneurship refers to entrepreneurial activity that occurs in established firms, which compete in technologically sophisticated markets and search for entrepreneurial opportunities. Innovation constitutes a major foundation for the discovery and exploitation of opportunities in those firms. Opportunities typically arise from market conditions and the firm’s internal capabilities, resources and skills. In their search for opportunities, corporate entrepreneurs frequently explore technological frontiers within and outside a firm’s current business domain. The seminar will focus particularly on corporate venturing, strategic renewal, and innovation, with an emphasis on how firms get access to knowledge from external sources that can be combined with internal capabilities. In the seminar, students will present and discuss selected academic journal articles on the topic.
