Miriam Rinawi won the Annual Dissertation Award 2017 of the faculty of Business, Economics and Informatics of the University of Zurich (UZH) for her dissertation entitled “Returns to Vocational Education and Training: Retention, Mobility and Wages”.
In her dissertation, Miriam Rinawi analyzes the returns to apprenticeship training using novel econometric methods. She shows that an apprenticeship certificate is associated with high returns, high mobility and technological adaptability throughout the working life. Moreover, she shows that investments in apprenticeship also pay for training firms.
